Car hauling is considered one of many driving jobs considered “Specialized” hauling. You need to master in your basic driving skills(experience) before you can step it up.
Maybe @Hammer166 can chime in to see if any car hauling carriers hire newbies with Zero experience.

    Hammer166 Thanks this.

Don't have a clue who is doing what it in that part of the world. I've trained total newbies in the past, but (thankfully) the insurance carriers won't let it happen nowadays. As you mention, helluva step learning curve when you're an experienced driver, it's really tough on a new guy.

Banker and Diesel Dave Thank this.

I’m in Long Beach CA. There’s several companies near me that hire new cdl drivers but can’t find any car haulers.

If you can’t get anyone to hire you as a carhauler with zero experience you may want to hire on with Hogan. Then when you have the experience they require transfer to their carhauling division which pays hourly. Hourly would be an excellent way to learn to haul cars. Then after you know what you are doing move on to greener pastures hauling cars elsewhere. Or you may like Hogan and stay there if they are paying you well enough. An experienced carhauler at a company who pays what you are worth will make $2,000-$2,500 a week. You won’t get close to that number for at least 6 months to a year generally, which is why I feel an hourly job at first would be good. IMG_8030.png IMG_8031.png

Well if it is a dream, then build up to it, nothing worse than a newbie who can't handle a truck becoming a problem on the road. Take an OTR job and see what life is like then move to where you want to go after 2 years of safe driving or become one of these -
