Blue is the tractor park brake. Truck I drove, when you pulled the yella knob the red popped out and blue stayed in. You had to pop the yella and blue. This allowed to park truck brakes and leave trailer charged. I think it had to do primarily with old brake systems before spring brakes were required on trailers. If I recall the old trailer brakes applied when air was removed via another reserve tank. When ALL air was exhausted or leaked from trailer, brakes would release.
