Hey fellas! Hopefully everyone is staying warm with this freezing weather! I really need some help on a used trailer I just purchased!!
so, I have a 2017 cascadia , and just purchased a 2016 Dorsey flatbed. Well, with ignition on the light cycles like normal. When driving my trailer abs light comes on every time I hit the brakes. Also, it blows fuse “14 I believe. Trailer abs ignition on my truck.
I’ve taken the trailer to two shops. First shop had it two weeks and said nothings wrong with it.
second shop had it a few days and fixed some wires that were shorted. I went to pick up the trailer, and it had the same issue. They had it another day, and then said it was done. The trailer had a bad relay.
I dropped the trailer off a few miles down the road and it worked fine.
Now I’m going to pick up a load and have the same issue. I did just put in a new abs valve because the old one was leaking.
Is there anything I can check or do before I take it to a shop for the fourth time?

abs light on the trailer or the one on the dash? What brand is the trailer abs system? I have Bendix and downloaded the pdf manual for my version. It shows how to get the blink code from the trailer module and read the error. Image is screenshot as example. If the blink code suggests system is working properly the issue is probably the wiring upstream

Abs light on dash comes on every time I hit the brakes. It’s a bendix unit.

Yes sir, I’m becoming familiar with it unfortunately lol. Electrical issues are not my strong suit haha

I’m not sure I can start the blink codes. When I press my brakes I blow the abs ignition fuse. Ugh

You swap the trailer power cord around,or swap it with another one if you have a spare, see if that changes anything.

I don’t think it’s the plug, I was pulling a different trailer earlier this week with no problems with abs

What did the first shop do with the trailer for two weeks?
And
Are these two shops just random trailer repair places or actual Dorsey dealers?Codycodycody11158 Thanks this. -
First shop was a local shop. They hooked up the diagnostic equipment and said everything was working properly.
second shop was a really well reviewed local shop. Not a Dorsey shop.JonJon78 Thanks this.
