Exactly. Just like the company gets cited for any problems with their equipment, even when it's the driver who didn't report it, the driver can probably be cited for any illegal activity that happens in the truck, even if it's a passenger who commits it. But like others have said, there's a lot more to this story.

 

Speaking as someone who's trucking job is almost entirely dependent on the cannabis industry, I say - LEGALIZE IT!!!!!!!!!

 

Heck no, we already have the dumbest most idiotic drivers driving trucks, adding drugs into the mix makes it worst than it has been.

What makes one think making pot legal for cdl holders will make the problem of driving intoxicated worse?

 

The same reason that you think that it won't? Adding more "legal" intoxicants to a society doesn't make the use go down. The only reason that there aren't MORE pot related issues is that its illegal for drivers.

 

I always thought it was more of a testing problem. Alcohol tests can tell if a driver is drunk at the time of testing. Pot tests just say if the person has gotten high in the past few weeks. But they may have developed better tests for pot use in recent years, which would make that argument moot.

 

Right now it is yes. There is no test that shown current pot intoxication. Although it's better than a couple weeks, more like 10 hours last I checked.
Hopefully one will come out, but I'm not holding my breath for it to be anytime soon.

 

I've smelled pot on drivers standing in line at shipper/receivers and at truck stops. Also, when I've parked and got out, the truck next to just reeks of pot. I don't know how these guys are getting away with it.
