Oh, you had to bring up the "Circus Wagons",,,I couldn't find where Monfort used Petes, they did have Freightliners and Mack cabovers, but was mostly KW. They did have a couple K100s with 8v71 Detroits with 5 speed Allisons, I found. I think this pic was taken in mid 70s when the son took over. Look at the fuel tanks. I read, they filled up at the yard, and once halfway to Jersey and to switch drivers.

Not sure about Monfort, but I know Shupe Brothers out of Greeley Co. had a bunch of W900 with 8V92 detroits and allisons in them. I drove a few of them. The early generation allison truly sucked in the winter on ice because of harsh down shifts. If memory serves me right they had allison HT740s in them or 750s.
