Mine idled up this morning......I've experienced that with an International before. These newer types of trucks sometimes do that in extreme cold. The RPMs went up marginally though. It warmed the truck up quick though. It was 1° in Checotah.

So how much hot water am I in? I've been running recaps and saw an opportunity to squeeze a 34 on between pickup Saturday in Edwardsville and delivery this morning in Indianapolis, so I stayed in Effingham. However, I forgot to take into consideration the different time zones. Between that, and dealing with frozen trailer brakes (see my above concern with the truck not idling on its own) I was late getting to Target this morning by 45 min. I was leaving as soon as my 34 was up, but... trailer brakes.

Mmmmmm.....folks make mistakes. I wouldn't tell them that I didn't take into account about the time zones, but if they ask, I'd only admit the trailer brakes were frozen. They won't trip too much since it's our first time. In the future, keep you some alcohol handy in a spray bottle. You gotta spray your brakes down ahead of time, or you can a funnel and dump some alcohol down in your air lines and itnwoild have kept your brakes from freezing. In these temps, never set your trailer brakes. You'll have to build air pressure periodically if they wont take off the idle shut down. Are they unloading you?

Yes they are. Rich (I think) called me while I was enroute asking why I was late. Without thinking I said that I wasn't running late, rather I would be early. When he said I was going to eastern time zone I said oh f. But, I did tell him about the brakes. I was leaving early enough to be an hour early (for central) and if I didn't have the brake issue I would have been on time.

I know about setting the brakes in winter. I thought I would have dragged them enough through the parking lot, and didn't set them until well after my post trip was done. I've never needed to keep alcohol with me, but another "tool" in the toolbox never hurts.

They won't trip over it too much. My one and only late load here was also Target.. in Indianapolis lol. Unless it becomes a habit, I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't even get as much as questioned over it again after I delivered. Was like it never happened.

One thing I like about Climate is they seem to have a longevity approach to the drivers. They seem to take the more realistic approach of 'things happen' more often compared to some companies. I'm like you though and had a termination a while back before coming here and in a constant state of paranoia.

Indiana is a pain for time zones. Same for Michigan. Was always weird to me that the upper peninsula was eastern time. Kentucky has me a little used to it. Always weird heading northbound on 65 and ending up in eastern time and then ending up back in Central time in Chicago.

Bout to roll out now towards STL. Hopefully a little smoother than yesterday. Trying to beat the Nashville in snow at rush hour disaster that's looming at 6am
