Well, my friend, 2 things, accept it( I didn't) or get out( I did). You mention trucks that have damaged parts, all those trucks involved in pileups, may still be usable, and as long as it passes inspection, things like tank covers, wind deflectors gone or damaged, no big deal, flapping in the wind. Trucking has outgrown just about everything we, as pioneers, held dear. Not just trucking either, this whole dam society. I'm pushing 70, happily retired, am bummed about my age, but on the other hand, I can't imagine what the future will bring. If it's anything like we've seen so far, I don't care if I do see it. Remember, we trucked in the best of times, and they can't take that away.
Another thing on this thread, if the gubment keeps on implementing stupid, to us, rules and ins. premiums that can't be met, I bet we'll see a return of the "no questions asked" outlaw truckers as shippers will have no choice but to use them. Sounds like history repeating itself, no?

I might have missed it in the article, but I didn't see if they said when the bill would be voted on? Does anyone know? And if it passes, when does it officially go live, next year?
77fib77 Thanks this. -
I don't think a date was set for the vote, it should be noted, the bill also includes updates every 5 years for inflation. Bills like this have been introduced before, and stalled before they reached full Congress.

For five million I'll find a tractor with drives under 4/32 in the parking lot and throw myself in front of his truck. Wish me luck yall cause daddy's got to get paid!
77fib77, Cdemars316 and gokiddogo Thank this. -
I don't think it's fair either.
You can't compare ones who started in good times to the ones who started a few years ago (before even Covid started). Often, people don't get rich overnight. And this business really does turn on your luck.
Not okay with a BIG fish having it all but smaller ones need to sink. That's MONOPOLY.Last edited: Jan 18, 2024

It isn't sustainable with the rates the way they are.

I don't think it will go up to 5mln. It's too much of a difference to be implemented for all.
