So in the middle of all this ice, snow and road closures I get hit with a random drug test, but the facility that I am directed to go to is closed due to a water pipe burst, and no idea when they’re gonna be up and running again,
I called the owner and explained this to him and this guy tells me that it’s OK. I have two months to get it finished. I’ve never heard anything of the sort before and I am pretty nervous to think I can continue to operate without turning in these test results,
I asked if I can just find another place to go to, and was told that because it’s the place that is registered with their company in the consortium that is the place I have to go to
I even looked on the Epassport paperwork that they sent to them from FMCSA or DOT and there’s no place there to call for any advisement to get on my own without thinking that the information I was just giving from the Owner is correct..
so what’s the deal on these randoms from the government and my inability to get them finished due to unforeseen events outside of my control and what sort of proof or CYA should I be getting if it’s necessary?
Got hit with a FMCSA random drug test but facility is closed!!

@Moose1958 Any words of wisdom?
TheIncredibleBulk Thanks this. -
You don’t have the privilege of waiting months to get it done. Your boss is notified quarterly and he has the flexibility of 3 months to notify you. Once notified, you’re required to go take the test immediately.
As with the previous posters reply..it’s absolutely not correct. No one gets the privilege of waiting one or two months.
Trust me, I’m a certified tester at my company -

Just wanted to add.
I don’t know how tight you’re with your boss so take it as you wish.
At any point now he could put it in the clearinghouse as a refusal and turn your life into a living nightmare. Granted the facility was unexpectedly closed so that can cut you some slack but, I’d be there tomorrow camped out waiting for them to open.
Even owner opps like me, once notified via quarterly have to go take the test immediately. There’s another way around it for OO’s and that’s to assign someone else as the DER (I assigned my wife) she can now use her best judgment to notify to test.tscottme, Oxbow, Mattflat362 and 3 others Thank this. -
Technically he had until the end of March to notify the OP to get tested.MACK E-6, Oxbow, gentleroger and 4 others Thank this. -
Small family type companies can skirt the system and never have to worry about anything.TheIncredibleBulk, Oxbow, gentleroger and 2 others Thank this.
