I would be happy to update regarding Blackdraches (Jays training).

It has been a busy week for him at Stevens! He passed his written requirements thus far and has been behind the wheel of a tractor - no trailer added till this week ( His second week already)! He is totally impressed with how thorough Stevens is with their training. His first week there and he is glowing.

He said, they lost a few people because of some health issues and some others never had their paper work in order. I know from all the paper requirements they send a detailed email as to what they do accept and need to process you into the program. He had to produce a 10 year ( I think it was 10) record of employment and a drivers abstract, and other items which I don't remember so well. Oh yes a copy of his Birth Cert, not a photo copy but, either the original of a copy of it. None of the paper requirements this was remarkable to either of us and seemed totally rational and doable. We both understood they have to make sure who they are training / hiring - I think, I would want the same thing in their position.

The investment of his training ( paid by them) is wonderful too. It has afforded him an opportunity to be there, where if there was not a program we could not have swung it financially. He is not upset of the possibility of a contract with Stevens, as a matter of fact he said he is so happy with what he sees so far, for him this is his career job as soon as he passes everything. He won't be looking anywhere else for work...

His trainers/ instructors have been stellar- he said that everyone explains in detail why things are the way it is. They don't set you behind the wheel and just sit there to watch you fail, they are helpful and know their stuff!!! He feels confident and in good hands and is feeling successful.

You get out what you put in. It's about attitude and effort, willingness to understand and ask questions, be respectful of yourself and others and not assume anything is perfect but, requires hard work and a will to achieve it. I can't say enough about a positive attitude and support.

I believe the trucking industry offers so much opportunity and stability which nothing else possesses right now. As with everything if you treat it kindly the kindness is returned ( usually) and if not , take a higher road and move on from the negativity of that situation by finding a solution or resolve, which may not be always perfect but, better than a conflict.
