I believe ALOT of these reviews are from drivers who didn't expect the costs of lease purchase driving. You have weekly payments for Truck, Trailer, Insurance, and you have monthly payments for ELD and other things. There will be one time enrollment fees and you will be paying for your RTD test. Also, you WILL have breakdowns, and they aren't cheap, so expect that and choose your truck and trailer wisely.

You can't look at this as a Company Driver vs Lease Driver scenario. You'll be making around the same, but as a Lease Purchase Driver, you'll be working for your truck.

If you can run 3500 miles weekly you can make decent money. You'll need to have atleast 7mpg to use 500 gallon of fuel at 2000.00 weekly. You'll pay 1500 give or take for truck, trailer, insurance weekly.

So if you run 3500 miles at an average of 1.80 a mile, you'll make 6300. You get 88% of that at Super Ego, equalling to 5500. After paying fuel and fixed costs, you will generally make around 2000 net. Not too bad if you're working to own your truck, but you'll be driving your butt off for that. It's a different game when leasing to own vs company driver.

Anybody that goes, remember that you CAN negotiate loads and refuse loads. Don't settle for crap paying loads, you'll not make anything. You can fire dispatchers if you dont like their offers or they constantly give you trouble. Know your operating cost and how much YOU want to make. I'm calculating that I need atleast 1.05 per mile to break even, that's about .10 cent extra just to be safe. So at an average of 1.80 per mile, I'll make around 2k weekly at 3500 miles a week.

Are you currently still working for super ego?

Hello,
Similar situation. Recent grad, I got hired for Dollar General, failed a pre-employment drug screen, completed a 3-hour class and was in the green again, we have two more random UAs to do. I am having challenges with being a new grad and having an SAP. I thought 2 months prior to school was plenty of time. Guess I was wrong. Costly mistake. I am in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area. Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm striking out and getting discouraged.

Maybe you can help me with a question though. I applied for Xpress, a company out of Indianapolis that takes SAP but they sent me an email I'm having trouble with.

The email said "Good morning, Daniel! Thank you for reaching out to us. We do accept SAP drivers but all the steps have to be completed. Once everything is done you can fill out an application if you still want to driver for us. Please let me know if you have any questions."

I've done both SAP in person evaluations and completed the assigned education. I've been released by my SAP and she said I'm ready to start the return to duty process. She gave me an information release form to fill out for whatever company I apply with.

My question is, what are these steps? Do I have to do the return to duty testing out of pocket on my own before applying with these companies?

Edit : I did email them asking about said steps. No reply yet, so I was a bit stumped. Thanks for the help Chinatown.

What I have been doing is working with the company that completed my sap requirements I'm on step 6 now just needing to complete the random UA'S. Since I'm not technically with a company yet they do it as an owner operator. So it's still completes the UA requirements, yes I'm paying out of pocket but I just want to get the UA process done. The SAP process is confusing

Let us know what they say. The RTD process varies from carrier to carrier with some willing to shoulder the burden of the followup testing while others want you to come with the testing complete.

You can't do the testing on your own, need to be enrolled in a DOT testing program for that, so if Xpress won't hire you until after the followup tests are completed you will need to find a carrier that will.

The SAP provider I went through is an approved DOT testing provider. So I am shouldering the cost it seems like it might help my chances somewhat. I hope

At some point, the way the DOT handles THC positives has got to be changed. The current system to put it bluntly sucks! I don't want people high driving large CMVs any more than the next guy. I just think the best solution for a THC positive is for the driver to be removed from safety-sensitive positions until they can test clean! I spoke to a lady that has an office near my home a while back. She is a SAP. I asked her what does she do for education when she is working with a THC-positive case. She smiled and said nothing really. I want them to go to 4 or 5 AA meetings. Then I will talk to them and sign them off to go back to work.
