Hey Gents, I’m in the process of severing relations with an employee who has a hard time following instruction. I do not trust them with my equipment and would like to ensure my truck is only moved when authorized to do so. Can anyone give me advise on which fuse I should pull that won’t mess up the truck’s computer? Any other advice on how to deal with disgruntled employees on the way out would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
What fuse to pull?

Why would you risk him damaging your equipment? Fire him, walk him off the property and pay his two weeks severance. As for the truck moving, I’d stash an air tag on it somewhere. Set it to alert as soon as moved.

I’m sure there’s a fuse for the ignition or starter some where just pull the fuse cover and read the list of what fuse does what and start pulling fuses until the truck doesn’t start . I agree with everything you said except the two weeks severance depending on how long the employee has worked for him and the reason the OP wants to fire his driver he may have to pay a lot more then just 2 week’s severance could be months of pay if the driver gets a employment lawyer. If i was the OP contact a good employment lawyer to make sure he doesn’t get screwed
i would just fire the driver once he’s back at the yard/terminal and if you’re afraid he might do something have the police there . you should have some kind of gps tracking on all of your equipment to begin with and i’m sure a shop could add a hidden kill switch somewhere that nobody but you would know of and allow the truck not to be startedAnother Canadian driver and Albertaflatbed Thank this. -
just pull a wire from the alternator and the battery if you don't want it moving.. doubt the guy is going to even try to figure out why it won't start

Thanks for the advice. I have gps tracker on my unit. I pulled the relay so truck no-start. I’m just fed up of ungrateful people who refuse to listen to the boss. Lack of respect is at an all time high and drivers seem to think company owners work for them. I have a great lawyer and accountant and have welcomed my disgruntled driver to do what he feels best I’m just protecting my assets.

I know when we terminate someone here in Manitoba, they are walked off the premises and not allowed to come onto company properties to prevent vandalism. Each province is different but you only have to give an employer two weeks notice and vice versa, so pay them out rather than letting them work the last two weeks. They can take you to the labour board, but your lawyers will advise you on the best course of action in your province.Another Canadian driver, BigHossVolvo and Albertaflatbed Thank this.

The Master Fuse in the Box (the big big one) or like you did, the starter relay.

It sounds like you have a hard time communicating, and would rather just sabotage his means of employment (Why? Are you hoping he'll quit? Newsflash; he won't....) rather than tell him TO HIS FACE (you know, like an adult would..) that he's fired. Really, stop being obtuse. Just fire him. Get it over with and move on.
I'd love to see HIS take on how working for you was......Another Canadian driver and Peplow Thank this. -
This was my thought exactly. He’s hoping the employee will quit so he doesn’t have to pay severance.
