    Long story short.
Earlier this month I put truck in shop because it kept getting stuck in neutral.

over the past few weeks I’ve had it diagnosed 3 times at 2 different shops

    first the dealership

they claim it was the overlay harness they took it for a test drive after. It failed cuz they said check engine light came on. Ok

they diagnose again claim engine air filter is bad

fixed it. Claim everything is good. I go get truck and an hour later it’s stuck in neutral again

this time I go to a smaller recommended shop

they simply claim the transmission software was outdated. 2 hour fix

this time I make it 200 miles before the truck got stuck in neutral again

I’m getting so angry. Wondering what could even be the issue.

note: the dealership service advisor told me a truck came in me same day as mine with the same isssue & almost same vin. His problem was the brake pressure switch according to her

My companies shop says he believes it’s the stalk switch(only problem he couldn’t get me in since they prioritize company trucks first )

I let the smaller mechanic know both of these however i don’t believe they checked either one.

The big issue seems to be the truck is not giving any codes on top of mechanics thinking the test drive for 5 minutes means the issue is fixed

I don't know what the issue is, but I know for a fact that the engine air filter had absolutely zero to do with your transmission getting stuck in neutral. If an air filter gets clogged it'll reduce hp/torque output, reduce fuel economy, and could cause your vehicle to stall if it gets bad enough, but it'll never affect the transmission.

I’d set the dealership on fire if they wouldn’t reimburse my money for their misdiagnosis.

You’re right. They changed the because they claim my check engine light came out during the road test after and yet the truck was “running rough “ there was no way for me to verify it that was true or not

What’s the process ? I was told to speak to a higher up manager and if they didn’t help get the BBB involved

None at all. Just wouldn't answer the shifter. My dealer said it'll answer in the end, but it'll be the shifter thats going. Took about 40 hits and it went in, I drove to the nearest place that had one and bought it fo less than 200 canadian, fitted in 20 mins. Worked properly ever since

Step 1) Talk to a manager
Step 2) Make a scene at dealership if manager doesn't help
    Step 3) Contact the GM
Step 4) If still no help, contact BBB
Step 5) Sue in small claims court (maybe, I don't know)
Step 6) In theory, mix gasoline to diesel in a 1:2 mixture with Styrofoam into multiple glass bottles and use a cloth as a wick. Light the cloth on the bottles after breaking a window and toss the bottles into the store in different directions and leave with a smile on your face. Problem solved, In theory.
