lol... being a Tarheel fan I can deal with that... I married into a family of Duke fans... My wife's brothers and father are Duke die hards. (lol) needless to say its fun and sucks for me during the tourney...
So you are slummin it coming down to drive truck? Not sure if I missed it, but what did you do before this?

Last job was as a biology post doc but funding ended late last year so I decided to return to driving a truck after nothing else panned out.

Well tomorrow is the CDL driving exam. All the guys in my class are very well prepared to pass it with flying colors barring some sort of brain fart. Looking forward to knocking that out and starting the OTR training portion. Today was pretty laid back, a little backing and a couple of hour trips around the town and then a couple of hours in class this afternoon. All in all the school has been very good and I can't really think about anything in the complaints department worth mentioning. T-bone dinner on the line from Jason if both students in the truck make perfect scores, probably not going to happen but going to give her a shot.
jtrnr1951, JustSonny, hindsy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Make sure you hold Jason to that! LOL

Hope your test goes well! I want to get out there myself! Calling Roehl when I get home this afternoon. Going to have a nice long talk to make sure things can proceed. Got some personal issues to tighten up on. Let us know how things go once you are sitting in you own truck! -
Thank guys and gals. Things went fine with the road test, only had one screw up. Forgot to push the hi/lo splitter back to low after the emergency stop portion of the test. The testers you could tell were pretty cool when they walked into the classroom and starting ############ a little bit. Made everyone alot more at ease which was nice. Everyone passed. Got probably another half day or so of paper work stuff to do tomorrow before they cut us loose. The Wisconsin CDL cost me 86.00 as an out of stater, don't know what it will cost to get it changed over to NC but I am sure it ain't going to be free
For those traveling greater than 100 miles to the school they will reimburse you for gas for the round trip at 0.13/mile at the conclusion of school, they did not tell me that before I went so that was a nice surprise.
The Challenger, navyvet1994 and hindsy Thank this. -
Congrats. I was lucky. I didn't have to get a Wisconsin license. Missouri takes third party examiners so all I had to do is show them the test and only had to get my license here. Good luck.

CONGRATS!!!! You are now really a Driver! Keep Safe out there! Keep us posted on how things are going out there once you start training.
-
Congrats Majestyk on your CDL. The next 20 days or so may be a little tuff, but hang in there and get through your training.
Best of luck to you.... -
Well I am in blustery Gary, Indiana. Got a call that I needed to pick up another driver in Virginia and told to come to Gary as it would be easier to get a trainer. So drove all day yesterday and arrived here a couple of hours ago dead tired. Got a message from my trainer (Bob) that he should arrive here sometime this afternoon or tonight. So got to get a little sleep before finding out what to do with this rental car, hope they can take care of that here. I will try to drop a line from the road whenever there is a reasonable opportunity.
hindsy Thanks this.
