A good amount of trucking is just plain luck.
Most truckers who've driven enough miles have gotten dings and have come across dongs in uniform.
If luck is on your side, you got away with little to no harm or fouls. While another driver in the same position had the book thrown at him.
Fact of the matter is- no company likes drivers with bad luck.
When they see so many things on any kind of record, a recruiter or hiring manager will think, "What's gonna happen to this guy next?"Old_n_gray, Bean Jr. and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
You know it's bad when the first company Chinatown recommends is Western Express. lol

Save Western Express for people on the next level of unemployability, this guy ain't quite there yet!Apnightsky Thanks this.

Well, around there you can always find work hauling corn or grain.....or swine!
-
It aint bad because it's a job, and it will count as verifiable experience when he's ready to move on, for that reason, Western is as valuable as any company...if someone wants to continue in trucking and rehab their career, they'll do whatever it takes. It's nothing wrong with working for Western Express or any company. At least there's an effort to work and contribute to society. Never been one to job shame anybody.REO6205, MACK E-6, Speedy356 and 1 other person Thank this.

I agree completely. It's like the folks hatin' on Swift. They're as good a company as the next, they just have a bad reputation.
There's nothing wrong with Western. There's a whole bunch of folks that have been quite successful there. It's more about the driver.
If you're a good driver, you'll be successful just about anywhere (except for the 1099 folks out of Chicago).MACK E-6, Speedy356 and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Lol what is wrong with 1099s .

Serious question?Bean Jr., Speedy356 and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this.

Exactly right. I did well there starting out. The money was good for that time. I never had to wait on a load there, and I ran cross country all the time on the flatbed side. I love the last statement you made about it being about the driver. It's so accurate. Good drivers think every company is a good company. Honestly, I did the 1099 thing in Chicago for a year. I was messed up at the time and it was a short term solution. Ran up there for a year, and made some good money actually. Solved some financial issues quick at the time. It just sucked to run the northeast all the time but you do what you gotta do.
