One of the returning drivers to McE just spent 6months at Maverick and did not have rave reviews abt his time spent there. 60mph and no-idle policy were among the least favorite points.
-
As a new driver (just out of school and after completion of company training) what kind of miles could one expect "with good freight available"?
During orientation do they bring in more than they need and then start out a weeding out process or bring what they need with the expectation of offering a job "as long as you meet their expectations"? -
I have a friend who is at mcelroy and I met him for breakfast. We were inside eating and talking for at least an hour and he left his truck running. They do have slow trucks. I believe his is 65 tho.
-
What they have is this mpg/mph program in the computer. The lower your idle time + the better your mpg, the faster the program lets the truck run. Some drivers report up to 67mph. When I got in my truck, it wouldn't go more than 62/63, now it will go 65/66. Big deal, I know, but sometimes it matters when you need to pass or climb that hill.

All companies "weed out" drivers for one reason or another. Seeing as how you are a new CDL holder, you have no commercial work history, good or bad, so there is nothing to hold against you. You should have no criminal history either, that's a big no-no. You should be prepared for the strength and agility test, you must be able to lift a 125lb tarp the PROPER WAY (they show you the proper way) 5x onto a trailer-height shelf, also a box that is filled with progressively heavier weights must be lifted onto different levels of shelves + overhead, up to 75lbs. As far as the agility part, think flexible. STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH. As far as miles expected, I dunno yet, just came back to McE. Will update later.

Thanks DragginMan; not a CDL holder yet "sorry for the confusion" Lords will, hopefully will make that transition/career change in 6 months to a year; with Mcelroy being on my short list "1 of 2", and if I pick them hopefully I will make their short list.
No criminal history, great work record/ethic, great DMV record and in very good shape "strength and flexibility both".
Any other insight, information or inside tips you can give Re: Mcelroy and getting through orientation and training would be greatly appreciated.
God Bless and blessings on your return to Mcelroy. -
Anyone still out there? Put my app in las night. How are things lately?
-
Hey camo, did you hear back from CT and or Howard?
-
