I was stopped one time at an inspection area just South of Harrisburg, PA by DOT and all he wanted to do was check my tank for dyed fuel. This was about 20 years ago, a couple of years later I was pulled at the Southbound scale in CT on 95 near New London and someone who did not look like DOT said he noticed my farm plate and asked politely to check my tanks for dyed fuel. I said no problem and he started walking towards his vehicle but suddenly came back and said never mind have a nice day. Those where the only times dyed fuel was ever brought up to me.

Agreed, I know all about the early years and would avoid them too. Also, I'm not saying no one has trouble. But there's this mindset that emissions trucks are putting truckers out of business. That's no more true than any of the other 100 things on and off the truck which can put a small operation out of business.

The first time I was checked was by an IRS agent at the Hollister scales on 93 in Idaho. This was in the 80s. I was in the scale house visiting with the state DOT inspector, who was a personal friend.

But why did they flag YOU? What do they look for? Or is it just done randomly?

A few posts have been removed in here for the political bickering. If you guys want to discuss or complain about the political figures you don't like, feel free to do that in the Politics Forum, just not in here.

Discussion of agencies, policies, etc is fine in here, but when it turns into a pissing contest about the political figures involved, threads quickly go off the rails and end up closed. We don't want to do that, so help us by not getting political, please.

So we can no longer talk about the EPA or getting our tanks dipped by a government agency because it’s political ?

Apparently you're so eager for an argument that you didn't even read the post you quoted. Let me repeat for you:

"Discussion of agencies, policies, etc is fine in here..."

I read the post I quoted carefully before I quoted it
The only thing I was eager for was a answer to my question I asked that very question on here and it was deleted saying it was political
You make the rules I just have to play by them

    They do inspections!

The top has the federal eagle symbol and FCMSA instead fo the state DOT agency.

Twice in over 40 years and the second one lead to the visit; I'm a dinosaur from when the auditor came to you.....
