I’ve seen it a few times.
For me, it’s a question of assimilation. Like the poster above pointed out, people used to come here and become Americans. It seems a lot of the new immigrants have no interest in becoming Americans, and are downright disdainful toward their hosts.

I have a friend who is from Pakistan, albeit from a wealthy family. He claims that even in his country, these things are also controversial and are more about class distinction and lack of civil manners than they are about religious piety. Just like we see people who piddle on the toilet seats, or who close off 1 nostril to blow a snot-rocket out the other, it seems that no matter where you are in the world some people were just "brought up in a barn", and are either ignorant of social manners or else are trying to be deliberately offensive. He also claims that using a hand-sink is NOT an acceptable method of 'purification', and when he is away from home and outdoors, he just pours water from a bottle onto each foot and towels it off, PRIVATELY.

I wonder if part of the feet washing in the sink dislike comes from people's hatred of Muslims because of 9/11?

For me, it's because the ones who do it are worse than pigs.Speedy356, LOTSO and navypoppop Thank this.

There’s a time and place for everything, and in the sink in a public facility isn’t the place for anybody to be washing their nasty hooves.

Why would you wonder that? People are more comfortable having the areas they use being clean, public or private. Even feet that are covered are smelly and unclean, uncovered feet are the dirtiest parts of a body.
This is a human truth, no matter where you are born or what your religion is or your color. Most people are going to be uncomfortable, think it is humorous on up to quite upset to witnessing anyone doing this in a shared public place that is not there for that purpose, and they aren't there for that.
They were built for a specific purpose and feet washing is not it.
I see so many people upset about it that if it were me, I would not want to disrespect them or bother them, I would figure out another way to do my thing.
Because it is not everybody's thing, it is a very personal thing as is reason for doing it. And it is being done in a public place.
Frankly , I don't even like to blow my nose in public.Knucklehead and navypoppop Thank this. -
NO, drivers use the sink to brush their teeth, wash their face, wash their hands. They don't want to do all that after someones nasty feet have been in the sink.
Is someone wants to wash their feet, then go inside a stall, lock the door put a foot in the commode and flush it a few times, then do the same with the other foot.Sons Hero, Knucklehead and Speedy356 Thank this. -
Or simply keep a plastic tub in your sleeper with a bottle of water.......no big deal.
I read somewhere, (maybe here), that some of them do it deliberately to insult us.
I wouldn't be surprised.Iamoverit, Studebaker Hawk, Sons Hero and 5 others Thank this.
