Found this joint today off US79... Butcher shop/groceries/BBQ restaurant... They have truck parking for probably 20 or so but looks like lots of locals use the lot...
$7.99 for the plate in the picture. All Homemade. Can't beat that...

I know this is not helpful, but I walked across the street from a Loves right near the Mexican border in Texas northwest of Brownsville (that's all I remember) that had the BEST tacos on the planet. Not big, just DELICIOUS. I ordered 2. Ate them, returned for another one. Ate it, returned for another one. The people there spoke very little english just enough to take your order.
Trucker Paul, cke, tarmadilo and 3 others Thank this. -
You're going to have a hard time finding a bad place to eat in Louisiana. The foundation of our society rests in our food. If a place isn't good, they will be gone in no time. There is a MASSIVE amount of competition here. If you are not OUTSTANDING, you suck. Period. I live in south LA. I know.lual, Trucker Paul, cke and 1 other person Thank this.

And the people that own that restaurant are so nice. They really care about us.

There is a fairly new truckstop on Hwy 43 in Alabama around Thomasville called Cuzz’s (pumps are Phillip 66) that I will stop at regardless going forward. The whole place is nice but the lunch counter selection sold me, was able to get fried green tomatos and squash to go with my chicken livers for a change.

I don’t think I posted this before, but even if I did, it’s worth a re-post.
Tacos El Zarape Ontario, Oregon right next to the flying hook. Outstanding Mexican food, with a full bar staffed by cute Latinas.
There’s usually good parking at the flying J, and even if they’re full, there’s a few spots at the restaurant.mjd4277, JonJon78, hope not dumb twucker and 6 others Thank this. -

Best catfish and sausage I have ever had. If I were a YouTube food critic, I would leave a highly positive review for this gem of an eatery.
Head south from exit 183 off I-40.
A fairly large lot is available for truck parking.Last edited: Mar 3, 2024
