Wyoming Port of Entry(s)

When I run west through Wyoming, via I-90, it seems everyone has to stop at the Sundance weigh station. They always give you a yellow light coming off the scale. Instructing you to (as another poster stated) to bring in your reg. and IFTA documents. Leave your log book in the truck. If they want it? They'll ask for it. I've never been asked to bring in my log book, yet. Proceeding west on I-90 there is another scale at Gillette that I have never stop at. No pre-pass and all the other big trucks blow right past it as well. Not real sure why? I'm guessing that there must be a state road running North / South creating a need for the scale there? Continuing west on I-90 before entering Montana there is another scale at Sheridan. They always give me a green light on my pre-pass. I'm beginning to wonder if the reason for the green light is because I checked in at Sundance?

Read elsewhere on the 'net that if you have PrePass, you don't have to come in....can anyone shed any light on that? I'll be headed that way for the first time tomorrow and don't want to bypass the coop if I have to stop....

When I had prepass and went through there, I watched the light on the unit and it showed green. Then I did like all of the other green lights and went on by.

 

Always go by what the PrePass unit indicates - it overrides the roadside signs. Some coops will show "Truck Must Enter" on the sign, while PrePass is green - follow the in-cab indication.

I've been through them on 25 headed N into Cheyenne many times. Was always OD. You get your permits there. No phone ins. Wanted IFTA, length, width, weight , route, etc. No problems. Pay the people and they hand you your papers. Here is link that may tell you something someone missed. Like most if you have your sheeet in order you will be fine.

1st time I went through there we were told to call and did. They were handing out cards to make comments of professionalism or lack of such by employees. I flicked a bunch of sheeeat at the guys and girl and they told me not to worry about calling. Never did again. Always had what they wanted when I walked in. But you live there so I would call about an hour out. Never get over the drivers in there who just raise Hell and wonder why they are sitting. When they were handing out those cards 2 of them wanted names, badge #s. Said they were going to have them fired. "We should be the ones w/ guns not you #$##### s!" I just shook my head, paid the $ 25-30 whatever it was and grinned at the DPS guys. Fighting the cops is never a good thing. Learned that years ago. They are like the Chinese army. They just keep coming and coming.

 

There are few things funnier than a "trucker ######" or a "truckstop lawyer"!
Hearing these clowns runnin' their neck a scale or at the counter at a truckstop is one of the best forms of entertainment that you can get for free...Not to mention that when you shoot the cop a look of understanding at the frustration of having to deal with these morons you always get treated well in return.
