I have found a well priced 2007 Mack, that is in need of a rebuild. There have been a lot of improvements to the engine model MP7 since the truck was built. Could I put a new 2024 MP7 on the truck minus the DPF and SCR DEF that was not mandatory in 2007? Basically I want to keep my engine compliance from 2007 and run it with the new lighter and more efficient engine.
I have read around the forum and all I see is people talking about putting old engines in new trucks, has anyone heard of buying a new engine and making it chassis model year compliant?

Does anyone even delete modern mack/Volvo stuff? You'd have a brand new $50,000 engine with no warranty is why nobody does that. Better off inframing what's in it or just buy a 2024 Mack with a 2024 engine.

The reason id like to go this way is because I have had a hard time with emissions equipment in the past and DEF is very costly. Emissions equipment has caused me many headaches over the years with downtime and repair costs. Mainly the downtime that hurt me, I take great care of it and the warranty is never honored or I have to fight the company to honor their word, I'd rather just keep it simple and forgo any warranty.

I see what kind of fuel efficiency numbers the new Macks are putting out and I want a piece of the action but I'm still a little shy about getting back into the emissions trucks. I

It's not 2010 anymore. Just seems sketchy AF opting to delete a 2024 engine. Best to get with the times anymore. Besides on this forum deleting emissions is a topic not allowed to be discussed. Good luck

Why would you even consider spending that amount of money on a 2007 Mack ? You need to get a grip on reality cause you having a pipe dreamPhantom307 Thanks this.

I say do it, I'm kinda curious myself how that might turn out. Somebody's got to go first.

I say youre right about that, it just seems like a really nice area, the sweet spot in emissions control. Mack made a very stout little engine and theyve continued to improve upon it over the years. I have mulled around with the thought of a newer emissions 2020 mack and theyre all right in the ball park range of 50,000 dollars. Thats with roughly 455k miles and just about to exit warranty. I could get this 2007 Mack with the same frame as a 2018 pinnacle and repower it with the same engine id have 3 year warranty with 300k miles right around the same price and nothing to worry about for a good while.

I didnt intentionally discuss deleting the emissions, I wanted some clarification on the regulations that govern this idea i have. I dont want to delete a 2024 engine, I want to know if i can buy the pieces of it that would be applicable to my 2007 engine, since its required to be 04 emission compliant. mack is still making the MP7 in 2024 and have made it since 2007, I want to obtain the research and development that they have done to it for the past 17 years and put it in my truck.

I put in an email to the mack dealership near my house with a request to do a rebuild and mentioned the possibility of upgrading components that have been improved during the span of the engines existence. I will let you know what they say about the possibility of it being done.
