I don’t disagree with some of the points you have in fact I know this will be deployed only in the easiest roads at first than scaled out.

my point is that when it starts getting deployed at warehouses, ports, and short distances at first, those drivers will now be pushed out, diluting the next level of trucking. Further reducing driver pay.

example. Yard jockeys now get pushed out to local work, local drivers to regional, regional to OTR. It might not be 100% of the drivers moving up, some will find other employment but a significant number will dilute the next level up.

Problem is from a cost perspective it needs to be the other way round.

But either way, we're a long way from it being a reality. Having functional technology is one thing, havung it be effective is another, and having it be cost effective is a wholeother conversation. Remember, the US Navy still uses an analog system of mini-figs for controlling the flight deck/plane status.

We shall see, but right now it’s all about the dollars and cents and the industry is moving forward not reverse.

Is this technology ready for 80 k service intervals currently they inspect units heavily will a carrier do the same if so cost is higher . Another thing is who cleans the bugs off the cameras . PS can they be disabled by a traffic cone on the hood If so it’s easy pickings for looters lol

It doesn't happen unless they make automated only roads, where every vehicle is talking to each other, which may happen, but not for awhile, Rogan did a podcast not to long ago with the guy that was running chatgtp or one of the ai programs, and he said fully automated trucks is probably not going to happen, and even being able to automate some of it is so far away he didn't know when it would happen, basically said not in our lifetime. The super easy stuff that most door slammers do will be the first to go, anything that requires any skill whatsoever will probably always be here

choo choos still have a 2 man crew and are light years ahead of trucking as far as automation, as is air, even at 34 I think by the time it becomes a reality of heavily effecting trucking jobs I’ll be ready to retire.

I can see this crapola replacing linehaul drivers at LTLs at some point, but it can’t replace the city guys.

6th generation? The first 5 generations didn't take over trucking?

The original comapany that was going to have driverless trucks nearly 10 years ago is now out of business. This is just a investor money grab, nothing else. White collar crime at it's finest.

Note how it says "driverless ready", not driverless. Read between the lines.

In other news, I have a 12 inch weiner because I said so. You have to believe me, there is article on the internet about it. And it's going to take over the industry.

Exactly, the ######## is thick with this.

I'm genuinely suprised that people still buy into this crap.

Couldn’t a route from major city to major city just put in a set of dedicated rail tracks which over time would be safer and cheaper than releasing a unmanned 80 k tank on the road with the public . Every single person in the world has had a technology fail or glitch on them .
