Well,,,,anytime you can do a "specialized" form of trucking, you have an "in" most regular truckers don't have. That's the up side, the down side is,,,the commodity( KABOOM) and I live in a gubment assisted apt. and the red tape can be overwhelming, sometimes wonder if it's worth it. I'd have to think, that, the places you may have to go, security, and all, you will be monitored constantly, things the driver hauling azzwipe never has to worry about. Not particularly fond of a 4 year old Volvo, or a new one, for that matter, but good trucks, I just hope the one you got stays together. If you had the cash to buy the older one,, I'd have just got the new one. Good luck, I hope if there's a war, you won't be recommissioned to haul tanks.![]()

I wonder if you are scrutinized in the USA when hauling those products…i hauled explosives exclusively for 10 years in Canada,,was supposed to run team,,i evaded that rule as i worked directly for agent of manufacturer. This was before placards were used..i had signs …red letters on white background Explosives for any quantity. Did not start using placards until around ‘85…I also had a vendors permit to sell small quantities up to 1000 lbs to contractors, prospectors ,farmers,,anyone who needed to blow stuff up..I could issue them a 30 day possession permit,,identification was required…id accept a library card or Loblaws points card

I paid little attention to the “dangerous aspects”. Safer than hauling fuel IMOLast edited: Mar 14, 2024

Can you tack a truck on icy roads or strong winds?
Nahbrown Thanks this. -
I would be very careful of getting on the internet and broadcasting your travels etc. You say you need a secret security clearance and what you will be hauling is top secret freight. Yes Bagget and the other co out of Joplin, Mo. have been doing this for years and it's no secret, but loading up ammo or explosives and then announcing it publicly could rile up some top brass. You want to fly under the radar, as they say. Luck to ya'
Speedy356, 201, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
BINGO! I hope they realize that. I'd have to think, in a situation like that, you'd be under constant surveillance, that would make a driver facing camera attractive. Not sure I'd want a black Suburban following me around.Chinatown Thanks this.

The scales are strict about that also. If you have pistols, make sure they're locked in a safe before crossing the scales. Make sure your truck has a safe, secured/ bolted, etc. inside the truck.
The company you're going with will explain all that during orientation. -
First of all, there will be zero driver facing cameras.
secondly, Ive had a security clearance for 34 years and understand OPSEC. I will never post anything even remotely over the line.
If you post classified load information or pictures you should have your clearance taken away… at a minimum.
Relax Francis, I had a TS-SCI in the past. Those guys in the black suburban? ….. don’t worry about those guys201 Thanks this. -
Back in my day, we used to call guys like you "Suicide Jockeys".....
Oh, BTW, sometimes those types of loads are followed. I don't know if they tell the driver or not when he's being tailed. -
I can tell you right now that I know where you will be spending a fair about of your downtime haha. I was in a transportation unit in the army. I did A LOT of missions in California and Kentucky. I wont disclose the locations for OPSEC of course but just know that I spent plenty of time in those 2 places over 5 years(when i wasnt overseas of course) LOLNahbrown Thanks this.
