First they would be put out of service for 10 and depending upon how serious the violation is I believe they could put you oos for 34 if they want..Not 100% sure on the 34 though.
Second, the report goes to FMCSA and again, depending upon how serious the violations extend it could flag them for an audit. If it’s only one small screwup in the 8 days of logs then probably nothing. If it’s an everyday blatant disregard for HOS then it quite possibly could lead to being put oos permanently.
Last, their insurance will jack their rates up. Mine went up thousands for getting nailed driving in ON Duty status. I could have easily gotten it removed but I blew it off not realizing what it was going to do to my insurance premiums.Widowmaker9172, hope not dumb twucker and Last Call Thank this. -
Virginia.
This is a bad deal all the way around.
Truck driver is definitely going to be looking at some charges.
Falsifying logs
Driving exceeding HOS
Lying about having another driver (interfering with a police investigation/obstuction of justice)
Possibly vehicular manslaughter/negligent homicide.
The coach driver ain’t off the hook either.
Driving too slow for an interstate highway (minimum safe speed is 45 mph, coach was only doing 40 mph).
And if he swerved into the truck’s path, that’s
failure to maintain lane and possibly vehicular manslaughter/negligent homicide.
There’s a couple of companies that are going to need some lawyers!Grumppy, hope not dumb twucker, Bud A. and 3 others Thank this. -

commit perjury, which i believe is a felony when lying to an officer.

90% of so called 1099 White Volvo companies use an overseas logbook service. Usually costs about $200 per truck per month. They got 24hrs call centers and change logbooks any way you want, just like on paper.
I see all the time in Eastern European Facebook groups advertisements for trucking jobs with 4500-5000 miles per week and "friendly logbook" in the description -
Probably not in the us.ihaveaquestion Thanks this.

What actually happens in the situation if they find a driver who bought their CDL license, created fatality.. does the USDOT/FMCSA trace that back to the passing officer? State who issued the license? who actually gets in trouble for that? Do they get deported and banned from the country? kinda wild thought.. because if it’s an American driver, they’re gonna put the American driver in jail for a fatality add in lawsuits & fines… kiss the CDL license goodbyeGrouch Thanks this.

My memory came out of the "fog". I remember this accident now. The bus was a "party bus" and you can form your own opinion about this. But whatever, this does not erase the fact of the obvious criminal acts of the trucking company.
