Greyhound has gone to charging for extra luggage as have the airlines. If you can afford it I would ship anything that won't fit in my duffle like my sleeping bag, since it will now be excess luggage.
Keep in mind you will be riding in someone else's truck so don't bring a bunch of stuff where there will be no where to put it. Just assume that the top bunk will be all the available space for you and your stuff.Another Canadian driver and CMFlex Thank this. -
I’ve heard some rumors about it but I don’t expect my recruiter to tell me the truth about it. If it’s for like a year I’m sure I can stick it out. Was really hard to find a flatbed gig as a beginner cuz I shot myself in the foot not being able to pass a hair follicle test. Do you know more about it?Another Canadian driver and austinmike Thank this.

Ahh okay makes sense. Maybe I’ll just buy a sleeping bag once I touchdown in VA. My ticket shows for one luggage and one small personal item. Just bringing a duffle and a backpack.Another Canadian driver, austinmike and TX2Day Thank this.

Other bus passengers steal luggage from the luggage compartment underneath the passenger compartment. When they get off the bus, they grab an extra suitcase.
Also, use a flexible duffle bag vs a hard suitcase. There won't be room for a hard suitcase in the truck.Another Canadian driver, Savor the Flavor, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this. -
6 month $2,500 to ride with a "trainer" for 3 weeks. They love to d*ick people, just thread lightly. The hair follicle, is it pot?
You can self test to verify positive or negative for around $80.00.Another Canadian driver, CMFlex, TX2Day and 1 other person Thank this. -
Zip ties. The big Mack Daddy ones. Best of Luck ~
Another Canadian driver, CMFlex and Chinatown Thank this. -
You didn't hear this from me, but have you called Prime and asked about their FB training? You still have time.

Yea it is for pot. Companies would allow that???
Yea I did. Apparently they’re not hiring recent grads at the moment. Freight market must really be that bad. That’s why I just took the WE job. Pay will probably be dog water but at least I’ll be getting exp. Can’t be worse than the $200/week I’ve been getting.Another Canadian driver, austinmike and Chinatown Thank this. -
A really good rechargeable head lamp is an absolute must for deck work, also three more pairs of gloves than you think you need, and good gloves to, I go through about a set every week. Once you get in your own truck, a big prybar and bfh are absolutely necessary in open deck work. Other wise good luck with welfare express, just stick it out and get your experience, open deck work is about the best their is in the trucking world.
Another Canadian driver, austinmike, CMFlex and 1 other person Thank this.
