Long story short. I sent payment for Registration 2 weeks ago and haven’t gotten the new registration yet. I do have confirmation that payment has been submitted. Can I continue driving without updated registration card? What’s the penalty? Is it a fine or oos?
Thank you.

If you have proof you paid it, I would just keep driving.
If you happen to get pulled over, the worst case scenario is you’ll get a ticket, but once you show the court proof, it’ll get dismissed.
Basically it’ll be a fix it ticket.
There should be a phone number or email address to contact the commercial vehicle division in your state to answer any questions or concerns.Last edited: Mar 28, 2024

If you paid it. It should be updated in the system.
And don't they give you a new paper that can be printed? Online.Rideandrepair and OlegMel Thank this. -
Did you just look at if they took the money or actually called and ask?Rideandrepair Thanks this.

It’s state of Illinois. You won’t get an answer unless you take a drive to Springfield that’s 3 hours away. Might stop there today since I’ll be heading in that direction.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

If you’re talking about the UCR registration, there is no certificate that I know of. If paid online you’ll get a piece of paper stating it’s current. Probably be able to get a copy by going to the UCR.gov website. All you need is verification your current. For your own peace of mind. You’re not required to have proof onboard. I carry a copy anyway. But it’s not required.

I’m talking about IRP. I paid however haven’t received the updated IRP sheet from Secretary of State yet. Can’t pick it up in person.
btw. When they enter your dot at the chicken coop they can see if your UCR is not paid. A buddy of mine got shafted for $200 in West Virginia a month or so ago.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
My State went online only. When I renew I print off a copy of new cab card. That’s all I know. If you’re paid up, should be able to get a copy. They mail a new sticker for plate. Meanwhile continue to operate.
OlegMel Thanks this. -
Long as you have the recipts they usually leave you alone. Ive had it come up on a level 1 twice now. Both times i just showed the recipt and they dropped it.
Rideandrepair and OlegMel Thank this.
