Did you read the paperwork you signed at the start of the job? I suspect you signed paperwork saying you would agree to pay whatever charge they gave you.

You are either 1099 or W-2. There are no 1099 company drivers. It's like claiming to be a vegetarian beef eater.Bean Jr., snowlauncher, Last Call and 4 others Thank this.

I have already resigned from there, but the manager of the company calls me and says I have to pay a fine. the most interesting thing is that the company has its own DOT number for being on the road and the company forces you to take 3-4 more DOT number numbers to take cargo from Amazon, that is, before entering the facility, you must paste a DOT number for a certain cargo and after leaving the facility, you must put the DOT back for the street, then back on arrival and so on to infinity. one day I sleepily drove into the Amazon facility with the wrong DOT and because of this they have problems now they want me to pay them $10,000, which is a lot for me(((
austinmike Thanks this. -
As a 1099 it's whatever is in the contract you signed, but it sounds like you are misclassified employee. If that is the case I would walk and go elsewhere. If they try to hold a check or come after you report them to the IRS since it sounds like they are operating an illegal operation.
TX2Day, Crude Truckin', Numb and 2 others Thank this. -
As long as you work for companies that illegally pay you on a 1099, you'll keep getting screwed. Quit now. You'll never get your last check or any escrow money back but you never would have gotten that anyway.Bean Jr., austinmike, bryan21384 and 5 others Thank this.

Even if this fine is described in a contract you signed it probably wouldn't stand up in court. This is because they had you illegally as a 1099. They are just trying to recoup money from their DOT number switching game. Their main DOT is probably barred from Amazon. I would ignore his calls and report them to the labor board.

I see you guys all the time. Literally 3-4 signs on top of a sign, on top of another sign, on top of another. Then that guy drives out the gate and gives the trailer to a truck parked around the corner. This is the problem with Amazon going all in on AI check-in/check-out. There's only a few places left that have a human there to actually see with a pair of eyes something LOOKS wrong. Now, about your $10,000 fine. That sounds about right because that seems to be what these companies are willing paying to get a different set of numbers.
