I guess so. Werner is a major company and they have those KW w900s, and Cardinal logistics run prostars that are alot of money. I see alot of long nose petes out there with company names on them. I just dont see why more companies dont have lonestars a write off is a write off.

I dont know anymore, I am thinking about parking my truck for awhile until rates change or fuel goes down. In the mean time I wanted to go OTR to make some money, I could just use my truck to do power only with jb and be gone for 14 days, Or get local work with 2 am start times and 14 hour days for around 20 bucks an hour in my area with 100% touch pallet break down. Or try this but if I go otr I want a cool truck with an APU and 550 horses and an 18 speed. With out the headache of a long nose that doesnt fit anywhere and 0 visibility.

First off, lots of companies use Pro Stars...like I said earlier, they just get them in the 'el cheapo' versions.
You need to be more aggressive if you are driving your own truck. If you are going to park the truck just because of the rates or fuel costs, something is wrong, and its not the rates or fuel costs. TONS of people were making a killing in their own trucks when fuel was way up a couple years ago.
As far as what you want in a truck...which Im assuming is a company truck:
APUs...thats iffy there, lots of companies have them, lots don't. They cost quite a bit.
550 horses...yeah...uh....you only need that if you are moving a building or feel the need NOT to lose 10 MPH while going up a few hills. Most companies are sensible when it comes to HP usage.
18 gears...again...not too many big companies use them, if any. They are unnecessary. For most, if not all situations, a 10 speed works just fine.
Long nose: Lonestars, the truck you want, HAVE long noses, which you don't want. -
Ok he has to be joking at this point right??? He wants a company to hire him, give him a brand new highly spec'd Prostar, with 550 HP, 18 Spd trans and an APU? Not trying to be harsh but it aint gonna happen....

Yeah, but the current W9 looks a little like some of the T6 has rubbed off on it. The one-peice windshield and the slight slope to the hood that it didn't have before. To me, newer W9s look a little more aero than the older ones did. -
They started the slope on the rear of the hood in '98 or '99 and the windshield can still be orderedf in the 2 peice style like mine...
The W9 still looks better than any T600 or T660...But maybe that's just me, I hate the areodyne look of the T6's.Truck Driver Thanks this. -
I've driven the W9, T8, and the T6....and I prefer the T8 by far ( though it wasn't much different from the T6 ). I wasn't too impressed with the W9, on account of the visibility and manouverability aspects, as also the set-forward axle. Just my opinion.

I saw a Lonestar with that company out of either Mi. of Oh. Black and white power units, I think Van Erdin, could be wrong.
