Citation in the City of Palmetto in Georgia non truck route, cost?

I get routed down resi roads ALL the time even with my GPS especially when it wants me to turn around. I just ignore then and keep on driving. I know it's possible to navigate an 18-wheeler through resi roads, but with cars parked along side of the road and other variables, you just never know.. and it's not worth it when you can just keep driving and only be set back 5-10 minutes for a safer road.

Old thread but I just got pulled in Palmetto GA on collinsworth rd. Coming from Douglasville the gps took me down cascade palmetto hwy to hwy 29 and had me immediately turn right onto Phipps/collinsworth. Soon as I turn I see signs for no trucks at the roundabout up ahead but it’s to late so I keep following the gps to 85S. For some reason they don’t have signs before you make the turn. As I’m making the left turn from collinsworth to Weldon rd with 85 barely a half mile away I see the blue lights behind me. Cop ended giving me a city ordinance ticket for truck on prohibited road, and to my understanding as long as I pay the fine it doesn’t get reported anywhere. I showed him the gps and how it doesn’t even show the 2 roundabouts on collinsworth and he said I need to update it cause the roundabouts and restrictions been in place for about 3-4 yrs. Well I check for updates every 3 wks on my home time.

I just want to know how much the fine will be. Takes like a week to 10 days for it to hit the system.

 

Came on here to see if anyone else got this citation lol.. i got it couple days ago and I was thinking it must be a trap for truckers cause the cop is really sitting there waiting for us truckers. He acted to be nice by waving as soon I made the turn but it was too late and I kept going cause I thought he was waving as in respect for truckers haha. I checked google map 3D view of street and it literally is a trap cause you only see the sign after you make the turn. Anyways my fine is $235 and I was wondering if it will go on my record if I pay it off. Can someone answer this? Thank you

 

Wise move on your part. I live in Georgia and we have a saying about Cobb county. "Come in on vacation,leave on probation.
They really were bad 15 or so years ago , the county cops had authority to enforce DOT laws on trucks. The problem with that was they didn't have proper training and it was just a money grab. Thankfully Georgia has since changed this , enforcement is done by Dept of public safety for trucks now.
