Back in the day when someone was really behind the 8 ball it usually meant that they were given a lengthy prison sentence at Alcatraz!

 

My one uncle used to use that term to say someone wasn’t mentally stable.

 

It exists it's based overseas mostly used by the chicago foreign companies no worries about it though it's garbage and not used by anyone reputable

 

I grew up using that term to mean you were down to your last option or more poetically.... #### or get off the pot. It's in your hands now, just get it done.
