If they can’t take the time to get the appropriate license plate/registration for their equipment, then that’s a company to avoid!

 

What this about another moronic way for some moron to get clicks.A cardboard plate until the permanent plates is mailed so what who gives a s@@@

 

DOT and some states other than Tennessee!
In some states if you are caught with anything other than a legitimate license plate and registration,you can be charged and arrested!
And,yes-it’s a big deal!

Your playing on words .Western express is pulling unregistered trailers around the trailer is in all likelihood registered just waiting on tag to be mailed.These posts about all these major carriers are all the same stupid stuff over and over and over.The large carriers are what they are the same as they’ve always been.Your just a number at the end of the day they have a business to run that is bigger than you constantly needing attention.Do your job get your experience and move to a company that is a better fit it’s just that simple

 

No I’m not playing on words-I actually worked there, and refused loads because the trailers weren’t DOT compliant,especially as far as their license plates and registration issues went. I sure as h e l l wasn’t going to jail or getting tickets for them because they failed to do their jobs in making sure their equipment was in order.
They were constantly known for using their “it’s legal in Tennessee” BS excuse when it came to their paper/cardboard license plate issues.That may be fine and dandy in Tennessee but in other states like New York,Maine,Massachusetts or in the case of the photo above-Ohio,that s*** ain’t going to fly!
Maine has actually arrested drivers for less!
The carrier I work at doesn’t have that issue!
If it doesn’t have registration or plates that trailer is OOS,either it has yet to be put into service or it’s been retired from the fleet pending sale or already sold!

 

Part of the blame is on the driver. Should be checking that the trailer has the correct paperwork and license plate when you first hook up to it.

Cardboard license plate is just asking to get pulled over and inspected.

 

It's mostly OP who wants clicks. He's on a mission to soil Western's name worse than it already is. Hes posted that article repeatedly on here. I'm with you, it's really not that big of a deal. The plate was missing on a trailer with another company I was driving for, and DOT just used the VIN number, and trailer turned up registered. Sometimes the plates get knocked off.

 

This is funny. She painted that to perfection. It would have been different if the car was actually registered and she had insurance. A company like Western I'm sure has all of their equipment registered. Sometimes a step or 2 may get missed lol, but all the DOT has to do is run the VIN and it'll tell the story. That's happened to me before. That guy in the video is being a pansy. Even in the article, he said he only got a warning. DOT probably managed to find out the trailer was registered but cut him some slack because that's a step we all miss on a pre trip from time to time.

 

Some states (like New York),they aren’t playing around with that anymore. H e l l, a few years back I got pulled in for a Level 2 on I-84 near Newburgh-and I was bobtailing. And the only reason the DOT officer pulled me in was because my truck didn’t have a HUT sticker on the truck!! If that’s any indication then the Empire State ain’t one to mess with. They’re doing hard enforcement nowadays. They don’t want to see the paperwork, they want to see the actual sticker mounted on the truck!
Now remember in that young lady’s case they arrested her on a FELONY COUNT for using that fake plate (it’s considered use of fictitious registration). It’s a Class E felony punishable by up to 4 years in prison and a fine up to $5,000,or double gain obtained through the crime under New York State law.
Her license and/or registration may have been suspended previously, which is why she went to such links to make a fake plate!
