That’s one of times, if I had time, I’d probably drop my trailer, hook that one and put it somewhere else. Preferably in a place that would make it a bit more WTF was this guy smoking place.

I know this sounds rather "Get off of my lawn!" but it seems that considering how one's actions affects others isn't even part of the thought processes of more recent humans.
-
Speaking as a soon to be ex human I love that phrase. I hope you haven't registered it because I am going to use it.

I'm going to get some hateful comments but, this is actually how i torque stuff down.
Edit: removed a swear word because I forgot we're not supposed to. My apologies -
Wait until you tear a strap or your winch bar breaks.
Tug Toy, IH9300SBA, cke and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have yet to have that happen, but I have had the winches themselves actually break. When I first started driving I was like 120 lb or something stupid like that, and I broke so many winches in 3 months one of the owners was asking me what the heck I was doing.Tug Toy, IH9300SBA, cke and 1 other person Thank this.

I got to see a guy laid out on the pavement at Plum Creek in Kalispell MT once with the back of his head busted open because he would jump up and pull down on his winch bar.
-
I landed on my knees once cuz I jumped up to to slam down and tighten it and the bar came out. That did not feel good.
Another time when I was trying to loosen one of the straps, the bar flew up and smacked me in the face. That also did not feel good, but no broken bones or teeth anywhere. -
In the days before straps and we used ropes tightened with drivers' dolly hitches I fell on my back a couple times when a rope broke or. more likely, I hadn't done the dolly right. A safer way than pulling down with full body weight, was advised which involved making a long loop hanging down to put your foot in and tightened that way. The worst that could happen was that your foot stamped on the ground really hard, better then a broken skull though. Problem was it wasn't so effective as a tightener so most of us continued to risk it. Reckon we thought we were daft enough as it was, doing such a job out in all weathers, and a cracked cranium wouldn't make much difference.
cke, Kyle G. and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this.
