If you're a job hopper, that may have a hand in you getting rejected.

celticdriver23, TripleSix and Zonno Thank this.

One thing to keep in mind is the number of different jobs you’ve worked at over the years. If an employer looks at your resume and you’ve never worked at the same place for more than 2 years for the past decade, that looks bad. There are drivers who didn’t get hired on at their dream job due to excess job-hopping, despite having the required experience.

Edit: Someone else has mentioned job-hopping, but I figured I’d give my 25€ worth.

I did it straight out of CDL school 2 years ago, so the answer is none. Luck of the draw, terminal manager, location, do they need bodies at the time, are all factors.

It’s like someone who’s been in a bunch of abusive/failed relationships. They have to be part of the problem. A decent gig may choose to avoid that problematic situation.

    Zonno and celticdriver23 Thank this.

This, but I was also lucky enough to pick the company for cdl mill school as well; it’s still a matter of perspective, what’s good for one person might not be good to another.

I also might just be a sucker.

I have about 5 years. It’s definitely true that at some companies you need to know someone to get hired.

    Zonno Thanks this.

Agreed. I’ve gotten that feedback before as a job hopper.

    Maybe none

it all depends on the company and the market .

my neighbor attended the CDL class at the local community college

got recruited by a heavy haul over size company .
The company has a 9 month training program , after that , you are hauling oversize loads

they do mostly proprietary, sensitive cargo . And their main customer does a background investigation on the drivers .

company said that in The past they found experienced drivers and did the background, now, they have to find someone who can pass the background and teach them how to drive heavy haul .

Nowdays , everyone has an arrest record , everyone has terrible credit records, terrible driving records etc and can’t pass a background check .
