That catches the thread up to this week. I left High Point Tuesday morning with an empty tank that I swapped for one loaded with Scope mouthwash in Iowa City. It delivers Friday morning at 8:00 AM in Browns Summit NC. I will be off for the weekend with 1800 miles for about 3.5 days work. -
Hey Rob..
I went for my interview Fri at the Karns City Term. When I got off 80 and followed the same route your speaking of, I thought to myself "this would be a hell of a road to run loaded!!" The curves and hills in the winter Im sure would cause a pucker factor that would require the "jaws of Life" to release!! When I left I went south down to 422 and then west. That seemed a little better but still has some challenges to it. Ill let you know if I hire on. Im also in the review process for Fedex. If all goes well I will be working for fedex very soon!! -
Good Luck to you. -

Turned out I didn't get the entire weekend off. Had to head out Sunday morning to N Chicago on a dry bulk dedicated run out and back. Picked it up this morning and don't have a delivery appointment for tomorrow. We get to weigh these loads ourself and just drop the paperwork off on the desk. This turned what would have been a smaller check last week into a good one and I will have 1000 miles in and be home Tuesday night. Hopefully I will get another out and back run the last half of this week. 2 weeks ago when I did Holland and Plaquemine my check was over $1600 for that week. -

It seems I am running dedicated on this Browns Summit NC to N Chicago dry bulk for a while. That's fine with me. This is a gravy run. Left out Last Sunday morning with an empty. Swapped out the tanks Monday in N Chicago. Dropped the load into Browns Summit Tuesday and was home by 7:00 PM. Wednesday I left with another empty around 11:00 AM. Swapped it out Thursday and was home by 7:00 PM Friday. That's around 3100 miles for the week, only 4 nights in the truck and I saw my family every day except for 2. Its also a relaxed run with no delivery appointment. You just drop weigh the trailer and put the paperwork on a desk in the office at the plant.
I head out Sunday right after church with my third one of these in a row. -
woah, you're on dry bulk now??? what you hauling? adipic? do you unload it or drop? Welp, I talked to Scott in Paulsboro & I'm set for a rehire next week
-
Good deal.
No we don't unload it. I have no idea how to operate these tanks, never been trained on them.
We call this product Zag. Its the active ingredient in antiperspirant. They make a real high quality Zag at Gillette in N Chicago. We haul it back to Procter & Gamble at Browns Summit NC.
It comes in 2 forms liquid and powder. We pull an empty up there and for liquid its a live load. For the powder we swap out a spotted trailer in a garage where they load it with an overhead crane.
They load the dry bulk tanker out of those big bags that are shipped in box trailers. Both loads are drop weighed and they handle the unloading at Browns Summit. All we do is drop weigh the trailer, drop it in the drop yard and pull an empty back to the terminal. -

Uneventful run to N Chicago and back. Left Sunday morning and got home around 8:00 tonight. I have Wednesday off. Thursday morning I have a Plaquemine dedicted out and back run and will be home Saturday afternoon. This week will be around 3200 miles with pretty good home time.
