I think the best money and job security right now, in this economy, is with refrigerated or flatbed.

The cop was saying he should have slowed down even further when the lights came on. He was already going 35 in a 55, and thought the cop was trying to get him to say he was supposed to stop. It was all on the dash cam, yes. Schneider confirmed that. Totally agree that he shouldn't have called it in. He said they drilled it into them at training - they're supposed to call in anytime they have a cop interact with them? Totally agree on the cruise control, too. Again, this is something his trainer did and trained him to do. He didn't know any better but now he does. Agree on the 45 min phone interview, too. He's got that set up - I only mention that because it's the only response he has from them so far but he has applied. He's been applying for the last two weeks and running around to get stuff taken care of, like JB Hunt's drug tests and getting the medical card taken care of. I offered to come on here and look for some opportunities. He's capable and has been working on his own to find something.

He's been saying it was a safety violation and explaining the cruise control/residential when it comes up. Most of the companies just tell him to come back in a year as soon as he says he was terminated. They don't ask what happened.

I don't get the residential area and 55 speed limit, either. We live in a rural area and there are plenty of roads marked 55 or even "end 55 mph speed limit" and there are definitely houses on both sides...

You're totally right about that first one. He's learned now! His trainer was using cruise control everywhere and taught him to use it. That same trainer was also let go recently.

He's been trying to talk to some local companies. Lots of construction going on here. Everyone wants a few years of experience.

Totally. He's been making calls and applying online. I just offered to come on here and see what I could find. He doesn't like social media and forums, so he doesn't have an account here.

I didn't realize it was getting bad out there. My husband does LTL and hasn't noticed anything but he did hear that hiring had slowed a bit.
