Do they not pay detention on automotive expedited freight anymore? We used to get paid well to haul it and on the rare occasions where we sat for more than an hour got paid very well for that too.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

$40hr up to 8, then it’s $240 layover. Loads pay between $380-$750. Anywhere from 5-100 miles. If the trip has a reload of empty racks it pays 70% of what the load paid. Also add another $240 layover to reschedule the racks delivery date. GM sometimes takes over 30+ hrs. to unload. Couple weeks ago there was 38 Trucks in line. 2 slow ### lazy forklift drivers unloading. I relieved a Driver who’d been waiting 10 hrs. I waited another 18 hrs. It’s unbelievable. Ended up with 32 hrs straight on the clock. Got paid to sleep. All in all it sucks. Not worth the hassle.dwells40, Siinman, rollin coal and 3 others Thank this.

I would not be able to handle that, no matter what it pays. I move alot of automotive freight/expedite also and it is very uncommon to wait more than an hour to load or unload.

Right now at Detroits GM plant zero is where that’s happening. They have 8 different docks. Only 2 have bathrooms. Might have to walk 1/4 Mile or more. It’s just stupid. Everyone and their Brothers hauling it. Must have 10 Trucks to get a Load. We quit doing them. I’m switching jobs again pretty soon. Not enough hour’s available here. Next jobs 2 miles from home. Pays more. 12 hrs. 5 days. They’re a huge company, do warehousing, and also own a tier 1 supplier. Move their own freight. This jobs OK for now. I can call them 1/2 hour after my start time, take the day off. They don’t care.Big Road Skateboard, Deere hunter, PPLC and 3 others Thank this.
