    Good grief!
I'm still in the motel and will be until at least Friday! The guy who was sent to recover my truck was stuck in bad weather and will be at least Thursday night before he gets it back here.
So because of one bad sandwich I've been out of work for over two weeks.
Stevens couldn't believe a California cardiologist, so they had to bus me back to Dallas after four days waiting for them to find me a way back there. Then the doctor was out of town until Good Friday and I had to wait until then for him to see me and the results of the heart test done in Dallas that wasn't even as detailed as what was done in California. Now I'm still waiting for my truck and my personal belongings.
I suggest if you're ever bused back to Dallas for medical, take all your things! If I had, I could have gotten a different truck days ago and be on the road making money.
Instead, I'm going broke sitting in a hotel I've been forced to stay in and being charged for it.
My first two runs will pay off the debt and I will probably get nothing to live on.
Tomorrow I am going in to talk to my counselor about just how I am supposed to pay off all these charges and still eat. Not to mention their ###### stress test here in Dallas will cost me $300 for the deductible. I'm well over $500 in the hole to Stevens as it is since they seem to want to charge me out of route miles for the miles the truck was towed from where I got sick to where they stowed it. I was only in the hospital less than 24 hours for cripes sake.
Tomorrow is Thursday and they deduct your charges that I list above on Thursdays, but I haven't had any trips, so my account will go further into the red.
    sigh

You make feel good for quitting Stevens in my orientation even though it was 23 years ago.I could tell they had hen house ways.
One good thing though Smokr this kind of a company will usally run the hell out a driver thats owes them money before one that doesn't.

Well, after talking with folks at Stevens I learned the following today...
I will be back on my truck in the morning.
I won't be charged the mileage the truck was towed and it will be removed.
The hotel charges will be reversed now that I've cleared med hold.
The money for the load locks will be reimbursed when I get my truck back and submit the receipt that I have on it.
The $300 for the deductible for the stress test will be billed later and I can pay installments on my own.
I will be paid $75 a day for each day after I finished my clearance sheet last week.

Dang will I be glad to be back on the road.

Smoker, if you're alliance and you've signed on with the truck payment insurance, you may qualify for a claim on that as well. Check with Catherine if you're not sure.

Smokr, glad to hear they are not going to charge you an arm and a leg for your misfortune. I bet you must have been bored beyond belief sitting at the luxury accomodations. From what you posted, this happened about a week before your insurance was to become active. Is there any way the insurance can take care of it for you now or is that what the $300 deductible is for?

This past week has been a good one. I flew out to Little Rock on Saturday to meet my new trainer at the Pilot in North Little Rock. By a stroke of luck he was delivering a load to my hometown. It was a very welcome surprise being able to see my family. We made the delivery and then headed for Bradenton to pick up a load of OJ. When we scaled the load we were at a GVW of 79,360 with less than a quarter tank of fuel. We took on 50 gallons and headed out. On the way out we were given a repower in which we had to swap with another driver in La Place, LA. Did the swap and now we are on our way to the dustbowl of Laredo. From there it is back to Dallas and grad class. I am really looking forward to that.

Been reading over this forum for a while. Just thought I'd make my first post here. I'm currently in school in FL, and a Stevens recruiter came to talk to us yesterday. Of course he had great things to say. Said they were really looking for more regional and dedicated runs in the south east. Any of you heard any wind of that? I'm just weighing all my options, but right now of all the "starter" companies, Stevens is really looking the best for me. At least for a year or two to get that "golden" OTR experience. Thanks again for reading. Stay safe!
