I can't believe I didn't think of Little America...they only have billboards running the entire length of the state on 80. That's what I ended up going with, got in earlier than expected.
Thanks so much for all the help, folks.Knucklehead, snowlauncher, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
Remember the good old days when you could just drive until you found a good place to take a break?
W923, dave01282000 and tscottme Thank this. -
I thought it was all about that curly, dirty blonde minx, looking up at you from her computer.

Is that the one that's NOT the original? Not much of a stop FWIW, just a place for them to sell more jackalopes....
Yeah, I think they start around Lincoln, NE. More signs than Wall Drug.......
And they were always free, too! Unless they were within 20 miles of a 2million+ size city. Heck, I remember when the 76 and the NEW T/A at Ontario CA were free....The only real cr@pholes were the TA's in Gary, Atlanta, and Slidell....Numb and dave01282000 Thank this. -
I think the real problem is that YOU leak. YOU. That’s the problem with dirt lots. But it only takes one critical equipment failure and you’ll learn how expensive an error like that is. If you are at a truck stop a lot of things can be resolved. Remember there’s a critical tech shortage and simple failures don’t just cost you money. You’ll end up wasting the time of other drivers. Try and use truck stops and save the dirt lots for split breaks and bad weather or late night naps. They aren’t as safe for loads. You can’t really safely get out and stretch because of drivers forgetting they are the leaky things. They are usually sorta foul. They aren’t usually well lit so your inspection can be poor. I wouldn’t hang out in there. Keep backing in at stops. It’s a pain but if you back for all your breaks you’ll be an all around more valuable driver. Faster on the docks. Safer to be next to. Healthier more versatile driver that adds value to the roadways. It keeps you alert to the rear of the trailer. Just go to truck stops as much as you can. Just plan a little more to hit them at less peak hours.
