EXACTLY - something a cell phone could never do. Instantaneous information sharing with someone right there within eyesight who you do not know and of course, don’t know their cell phone number. “Hey driver - your right trailer brakes are smoking”, or “You’ve got a strap loose / broken”.

it is quite annoying the idiots on the air, but as has been said, turn the volume down for a bit or the RF gain down to filter him out.

Yes across the board! They're useful in every facet indeed. Funny about that button, I learned something there too. Haha

Yes- and as far as the idiots, that's all part of the CB mystique lol- to be expected. I tune out or turn it off (when possible), but it does make me chuckle once in a while. . . Sometimes someone will be singing. I shake my head but I smile too! It can be a little eerie depending on what time of day and location. But overall, yep, a rather handy, at at times necessary tool. I don't see 'em going away any time soon!

Yes, I have a base station radio right next to my recliner in the living room. It’s nearly always on, I scan the channels a lot, but ch19 is where it sits when away from the radio. CB is the “Wild West” of radio - and it’s fun. All sorts of characters but mostly great folks. :D

It's a small box in some 18 wheelers with a mic cord hanging off of it, to where if turned on and tuned to display channel 19, allows the user to obtain the status of another drivers panties, hear another driver complain about a Prime driver sitting in the left lane or hear a very nice individual out of New Mexico refer to people who don't use his service as window lickers and screw balls.

I love the ones who cite the grossly over ubiquitous cell phone as being worlds better than a radio.

“Oh, if I need a traffic report I’ll just pick up the phone and call somebody going the other way.”

    Yeah, that’s brilliant.

Most of them don't really need a traffic report there already stopped.

We are working on getting a CB in our truck and was wondering if it’s even used at all anymore either. Would it be beneficial to even get anymore?

I swear you can travel from Seattle to L.A. without hearing a peep on Ch 19. I heard that California uses Ch 17 but I think that's a throwback to the heyday of CB in the 70's and 80's because I don't hear anything on that channel, either.
