Greetings good people. What the hell is going on with the rates in Denver? Every time I look, everything is sub $1.50 a mile. I just logged onto DAT and started looking for van loads from today to next week. The only decent paying loads were Denver to Hickville, CO or to Nowhere, NM. Is there that much capacity in Denver?

Denver has always been a dead area for the most part. Lots of stuff going in, not much other than cheap beer loads coming out.
Rookie driver 956, Crude Truckin', HiramKingWilliams and 12 others Thank this. -
Just be happy you are not a Canadian, You could sit for 4 days to get a load north unless you bounce deadhead 400 miles or more. And Denver loads out of Canada don't pay much.Deere hunter, Oxbow, blairandgretchen and 2 others Thank this.

Nobody goes to Denver for cheap you need your rate that gets you to a better area . If you get anything it’s a bonus .

Yeah, I just got $4.25 a mile to go there, but I was just casing out the action there on DAT for next week and it was pretty bleak. The only decent paying loads go to small mountain towns like Montrose or Durango and a few rural places in New Mexico. And they're all over 43,000 lbs. If I can score $2 a mile to go to Indiana or Ohio, I'm jumping it.Magoo1968, Deere hunter, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.

Good luck getting $2 out-of Denver going anywhere.
Unless you plan on waiting till the 22nd centuryBig Road Skateboard, Deere hunter, Siinman and 5 others Thank this. -
If you go to Montrose would it cover your miles to get to SLC?

If you got 4.25 to go to Denver, it’s better to bounce out to KC/St Louis than it is to sit and wait for a decent load out.Magoo1968, Deere hunter, 86scotty and 2 others Thank this.

Yeah. Another option would be to do a couple of Denver to Denver to piggyback on any other cheap load I take.

I think I would rather do a couple of high paying local runs before I take a cheapy or a big deadhead. This will get my rate per mile more respectable when I average it out over the three or four trips. My sister lives in Aurora, so I don't mind sitting for a few days if I have to. I actually welcome it every time I go to Denver.Deere hunter, ducnut, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this.
