It's not bad over there.
I gave my father-in-law and brother-in-law shirts, ball caps, jackets with American flags on them and Vietnam Veteran on them. They love those and wear them a lot. People ask them, "Where did you get those, I want some." So, I bought more and took them there on my next vacation.

 

Also gave them some of these and they wear all that stuff in public and to work.

 

No one over there really cares about that or politics.
My wife's uncle was a mercenary in Vietnam and lost a leg. He's a good guy and did it for the thrill and nothing patriotic. He couldn't care less about politics.
America has always had mercenaries and do it for the thrill. They're in Ukraine right now and getting killed there.
