True, but there are other factors that may come into play, like the aircraft type, how many cycles are left on the airframe (if any) as well as the engine type.
A Boeing 727-200 for example may be worth $6-$7 million dollars on the market but if the airframe has officially run out it’s designed fatigue life and is facing mandatory retirement then the three Pratt & Whitney JT8D turbofans at the rear may have more value by themselves individually.
Those engines can be overhauled and rebuilt.

    Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.

Well new or used, that particular block may have junk value now, unless someone is willing to attempt to rebuild it (again). Gonna have to take that one apart to see if any internal components were damaged/dislodged.

Hell if you can afford a jet or a Porsche then the motor for either is no sweat.

I worked for about a year as the building manager at this place that housed a internet provider

they had a indoor loading dock and we’re always getting crates in and out .

I’d been seeing this big crate on the dock for about a week or so and I thought one was theirs , and I see their shipping and receiving inventory guy and mention it and he says he thought it was ours
“We keep all our stiff locked up in the fence “

No labels on it so we grab a crowbar and open it ,
Wow ! Lokks like a rocket engine or something , we find some fed ex shipping paperwork inside and call the 800 number , tell em we got a crate on the dock that ain’t ours and five em the numbers on the paperwork ,

they ask me to repeat it , I tell em it lokks like a rocket engine , she says “it is .
, and we were just fixing to have to pay for it , we will have a truck there in five minutes to pick it up “

Lol. Tell that to one of my co workers. He has an old 911 sitting next to his dads house with no motor for the last 20 years and when he bought it without the motor he still had to make payments.
