485 was a terrible hp setting on the early paccar it had the same torque as a 455 hp but moved it up the rpm band.. I ran both settings and the 455 with torque lower in the rpm band was much stronger I found plus a full mpg better on fuel. Boss ended up turning them down to 455 hp and drivers thought he turned them up lol.
BoxCarKidd and Goodysnap Thank this. -
I'm in the southeast, I'd run 50wt in the summer in 318 and 238 Detroits. Also in my old Panhead Harley. Of course all of these leaked as much as they burned. We called it marking our territory.HeyYou!!! and Star Rider Thank this.

2 quarts in 20k miles is nothing…it’s not like we’re talking about a little foreign car that only holds 3.5 to begin with….we’re talking about an engine that holds roughly 40q… so sounds pretty good to me. I honestly wonder how he is determining that because you pretty easily have a 1-2 quart variation just based on how the truck is parked, how hot it is, and how long it’s sat since shutting down. Id make really sure he’s not talking gallons.

Others would use nothing until it was time to change the oil, and then it started to consume heavily.
In my current truck, the difference on the dip stick between just shut off and sitting overnight is 2 quarts.
