That's the thing bout dogs n horses. The attachment gets too unreal sometimes.
Had an ex k9 around the farm when I was 3 to 7 years old..after that an old junkyard dog that just wanted a home..now I just ain't got the time a dog needs.

Gettin a late start. Got a Black River round up to do over Bama way. Cullman, Russellville, Moulton, bring em back to bout 2 miles from home. Probably be a mixed bag of ####, but it pays. This ol brown truck ain’t what I’m used to, I still hate it most days, only because I’m comparing it to what it ain’t. Hard to beat an ol 425 and 15 for simplicity, dependability, and performance. Bone stock 5KJ which is same internal as a 4MG difference is a C style pump but still has the exact timing curve as the 4MG. Originally still had single scroll plungers in it. Stock FLS and FTS as CAT done pump just before I got it. Does have an old CAT reman OR-6051 windmill. I’ve never seen over 24 psi of boost out of it. So far we’re at 5.5 MPG average in all miles doing what we do I’ll take it. It’s not a race car but holds its own in the hills. Not a drop of oil has fell out of it or hit the right step box. Other than a good tune up, fixing a blown intake gasket new CAC boots and meter timing it I haven’t had to touch it. Hopefully stays that way but it’s early and hard to say yet. -
Still a great view over the hood.

I'd take that view over the view out of my crap Cadia any day!.. one of these days I'll pay this thing off and hopefully it holds out long enough to trade it in on a real truck.. till then I'll keep making money rolling around in a big old piece of plastic

@wore out I am just thankful that you and Doc are ok and were able to acquire a new ride so quickly. I guess since Gus was banned I now have to live vicariously through your adventures.
Someday I will have to catch up with you when you are tooling through Memphis. -
Brand spanking new trailer. Shiny.cke, wore out, pete781693 and 4 others Thank this.

Hogs packed tight get hot tween East St Louis/ National City and MS packer. Play the quit breathing card on you. In hot summer (J,J & A) we would load by 4 PM CST, run down to Cairo, IL, while fueling and learning if weighing in KY that night, ( if, run into MO and thru Memphis) we would wet them down with a
water hose at the stop. Be about 7PM, heat topped out, but wet down, vents open and the usual wide open run across to S. Fulton, KY-TN to hit US45 and run south to West Point, MS.
W.P. (Goat) Lewis Transportation had his boys unload in Starkville, wet um and rest um for about 4 hours then blow em on into Alachua, FL.NightWind, austinmike, cke and 6 others Thank this. -
We only had 2 decks/levels, as in the black trailer in a former avatar or the red one in the Mexico trip post back in here. 34' trailer, cut gate tied anchor half way up. At Natl city yard, how many to goi, divide bu 4, send me that number. Chouse the up front bottom and tie off gate, Send the next 4th, finish bottom. If on a compound chute, do the top same way. If not, pull out to move over to a deck chute and back in and finish.
austinmike, cke, dwells40 and 14 others Thank this. -
You mentioned "Market hogs"? Is that what we would have called "top"hogs in our day? 200 to 220 lbs. Can't remember number, but think I could scale 32,500 on the P65 license plate. So 32,500 /220 = 147 head. Sounds like more than usually loaded, but long time ago. Saw my first 3 decker on US30 west of Cedar Rapids, IA back in 56. Wondered how driver crawled in to gate of chouse out. Never knew of the boards.m just kneed them over left or right on the closeLast edited: Jul 5, 2024
