Yes I prefer loose sheets. It's better than running 2 logbooks. And YES, I ain't going to lie and say I run 100% legal. When there's load's I get what I can handle and run until I can't run no more. Things have been slow, so when it's time to run, I run like hell. It's my truck, my name on it, my authority. Been doing it for 30 plus years and still here. Again, I do spent alot of time at home since I only run Intrastate. I know Im going to hear it here about what I just said, But you cant BULL**** a BULL***TER.:biggrin_25516:

I talked to some cattle haulers the other day and they filled me in on how to run 100% legal. :biggrin_2559:

I thought only stops of 15 minutes or more were supposed to be logged......a PTI at the start of the 14 hrs. has to be logged for 15 min., and a post-trip need only be flagged as you go off duty.

From what I was told any stop of less than 15 minutes, such as a rest stop using a restroom, does NOT have to be logged.

You are required to document any change of duty status.

If you stop the truck at a rest area and leave it to go to the restroom and walk around the truck and it took 5 minutes, you are to note on the log book the location and time involved.

You mean flag the stop, right? Or do you drop a straight line down and up like a seismograph and indicate a 5 minute stop to the "on duty not driving" line?

I was taught in school to always do a brainstorm, rough copy, than turn in your good copy when writing a story

The government says they are the only ones that can protect us. And they allow the log book regulations because it's a way for them to say they are doing something to keep the roads safe. (and pick up some green backs)

It's good to see there's others out here that don't need a piece of paper (log book) to tell them when they are too tired to drive.
I'm the same way. When I get sleepy, I go to sleep.

The thing that I find important to note, is that when we go into the sleeper bunk to sleep. There is no DOT officer standing there to make sure we are really sleeping and getting the rest we need. And so they have to "trust" that we are. Because they don't know for sure.

No if they can "trust" that we are actually sleeping, why can't they trust that we are smart enough to pull over and sleep when we are sleepy?

And so what difference does a line on a page make, when it's all boils down to trust?

We've got about 10 trucks & yeah I been goin at it pretty hard, at least til last week. Funny how it slowed down when I gave my 2 weeks notice.

If it's a short hood with a 36" flat top, it's me.... at least for this week.
