I’ve got a 2020 Cascadia with approximately 491K miles and it has a DD15. I plan on getting the valves adjusted in a couple of weeks. Has anyone ever done them in 2024 and if so, how much were you charged and how long does it take? Do you also need an oil change with a valve adjustment job?
Valve adjustment cost?

No you don’t need an oil change, however Personally I would wait until I need an oil change. Get valve lash done, than run engine through a heat cycle, and get oil change. When valve cover will be pulled, always some kind of debris will fall into the cylinder head. Might not be a big deal but better safe than sorry.
id say cost should be between $400-$700, make sure to mention to the shop to adjust injectors and Jakes. Hopefully they’re not bone heads and they include that in valve adjustment, for the time frame I’d say 3-5 hours.rollin coal and Thunderstorm87 Thank this. -
I greatly appreciate it. I was planning on getting an oil change done tomorrow, but I’ll wait. I usually do them every 15K miles. My Jakes are good right now, but I’ll definitely be telling them to adjust that and the injectors. I average 8.0-8.2 MPG doing 66-67MPH. I wonder if the adjustment will raise my MPG

Freightliner did mine for around $400+. I don't have the bill in front of me. I also wanted to say you are changing your oil way to often. These engines are not those old series 60. Have you looked at the required oil change intervals for these engines?. Have you ever done a oil sample for your engine? With that fuel mileage you are getting you are at the high mileage for oil changes. I change mine ever 30k. These engines have longer service intervals now.
Thunderstorm87 Thanks this. -
I went to Freightliner and they said they would do it for $625, not including parts like seals. I’ll be doing the valve adjustment this week and I’ll be changing my oil intervals to 20K miles. I know it can last more, but I’d just rather change the fuel filter and air filter as well with it. It’s the peace of mind I like.Last edited: Aug 5, 2024
