Hi everyone, I,m looking to drive again and have a fear that because I haven't driven in 2 years that I may not be hireable. I have 13-15 OTR exp and Local for So.Calif. I've driven for CRE and JB Hunt plus with a good driving record, but no recient . Does this make me unhireable??? and if so how can I correct this??

Local jobs shouldn't have a problem as long as you can drive.

It's the megas that make a big stink about long haul. They want recent winter experience and that you can drive a full shift.

I can't drive a full shift sitting in one position. I like to lean on the steering wheel for a bit and keep the blood circulation going.

Find a job that has you home every night. If you want long haul. Find a local company that runs regional so you at least get home once a week.

I had a guy in my orientation class who was out of the truck for 4 years. However, he had 18 years experience prior. We do hire drivers that have been out of the truck for a while, but the driver's experience level has to be greater than the years he was out of the truck. I'm not sure that applies to every company, but you're just over a year of experience and you've been out of the truck for 2 years. Also you're relatively inexperienced so that's coupled with the previous scenario. I don't really think it's impossible for you to get hired somewhere, but I think reputable companies will treat you like a newbie and have you go through a refresher course. It never hurts to apply, but be prepared to do what you gotta do to get experience.

Hi Bryan I don't think you read my post correctly. I have between 13-15 years of OTR 48 states and local in So. Calif. I have been out of the chair for 2 years with clean and good safty record. You mentioned your company hires if more time then less out of the chair. I believe I fit that. What is your company?

Thanks for responding,Yes I can. Both said I'm hireable, but I am formiluar with that kinda work so I didnt move foward. I will call them both Monday 7/22 and see if the 2 year gap is an issue for them
