KAG is still going to be a 3rd party company. The 3 week on 1 week off is currently being offered by several 3rd party companies, the names of which seem to change monthly. KAG will be no different than the others. You will get the leftover scraps that the private fleets cant do. Linde just fired up another big push this week. If you want to do Cryo, google Linde, Airgas/Air liquide/ air products, , amd Messer and look directly at their websites for positions in your area. You might even be able to do the 3 on 1 off for them instead of a third party. US Cryo and LGT(I believe) are some others. MAtheson is always hiring as well., more on the welding gas side.TheIncredibleBulk Thanks this.

Any idea how far the Houston drivers travel?viper822004 Thanks this.

If you’re in teams it’s all over the country. Regional should be just the south states. But that position is brand new and nobody is in it right now to even ask a driver lol.

I just checked the website and it said they were looking for teams. I was hoping they'd have openings for solo drivers.TheIncredibleBulk and viper822004 Thank this.

I worked at KAG out of the South Bend, IN terminal. 3/1. I didn't stay there very long but the actual job wasn't a bad gig. Unlike with the big guys at KAG they left you alone to do your job.
Few main things I left over. 1) Job wasn't explained to me very well, this wasn't a long haul gig. I delivered mainly around Michigan out of Detroit Airgas depot, wasn't anywhere near South Bend. Also once you get in the truck I was pretty much a Airgas employee, that's who dispatche me. 2) My main gripe was that the truck they gave me sucked, it had Eco tires and single axle drive and I was delivering to some remote places in MI in the middle of winter. They agreed but when they lined me up for a "new" truck it was some old clapped out POS T660 that was a rust bucket and inside looked like somebody died in. I refused to take it. 3) The 3/1 schedule I was fine with but I reliazed they wanted for me to use my days off as travel day. So realitically it was 5 days off, not 7. They paid for the travel IIRC but I thought the travel days I was still actually WORKING so I wan't happy about that one. 4) Money. It was good but not great, it paid just slightly better than any OTR job, which was disappainting cause I was working/freezing my ### off. Another thing is keep in min you'll be getting into places desinged for a day cab in a sleeper truck, so that can be a pain.
If I could have had the truck issue sorted I might have stayed to see how it played out. The people were nice and there is way less micromanaging BS as compared to what I deal with now. YMMV.surf_avenue, TheIncredibleBulk and viper822004 Thank this. -
Saw a couple of pilot sleeper trucks pulling a cryo trailer earlier. One of the trucks looked like a brand new KW. Has anyone else seen this? I would have got a pic if I could. But they were headed the other way while me and the trainee was going to get loaded.

Oh wow. Never seen them.

Yes pilot/saratoga has been transporting liquid and highly compressed hydrogen for a few years now. At least they have out west, we actually just picked up one of their drivers not that long ago.Last edited: Jul 29, 2024

Long read on these 2 articles but pretty interesting and definitely insightful to the business practices of Linde going forward.
