Arrowhead Travel Plaza, Pendleton, Oregon

Nice place. I just hate stopping there headed east, then start climbing the pass.

Kinda like Baker City, uphill headed east, right from the start

At least you can get kind of a run at the hill from Arrowhead. At Baker, you hit a STEEP on ramp, then merge into that hill. Doesn't really make all that much difference really though, even if you hit cabbage at highway speed, you end up at the same speed by the time you hit the summit. You just might be a quarter mile or so further up before your speed settles in.

 

I stayed at the hotel once with my wife, while we did a 34. Got room 2020 right in the middle of the big scare of 2020. No one wanted that room, so we got 2 nights for a total on 90 bucks or so.

 

Went by it yesterday morning and a hundred other times but never stopped. Being a creature of habit I normally stop at the Space Age truck stop just west of there. Nothing special, got a A&W, showers aren’t the greatest with paper floor mats! Lousy cell service but has a motel right there if you want to get out of the truck for a night. It’s on my fuel network so free coffee and a shower makes me happy.

Ended up taking a 7 hr SB at the Loves in Boardman yesterday and that truck stop is really nice too.
