Love that Bendix/Westinghouse original air brake hand valve chrome lever. The epitome of "Hang on Air" installed at the factory. Clamped on, copper lines.
Lotta drivers have never seen, will never feel. Safety? Metal sticking straight up in front of you right side, 6 inches chest thigh. Most trucks came from factory to dealer with a "seat tank" unless special order sold with factory installed saddles. So we rode around sitting on top of 20 gal of regular. We did not intend to wreck so did not worry... Young, single, bulletproof. A few hundred on hand and no obligations. Ride with a driver who had a car. Buy tank of gas, $6.00, pint of whiskey , $5.00, go all over the clubs of Columbus. He had car payments, insurance, and maintenance with it sitting week or 10 days at the yard. I had the net of say $125.00 weeks pay, less the $11.00 (less associated $ spent while on excursion) in my pocket when we both left to St Louis the next day.
    Economics in action....

You should tell us about 1 excursion per week. Make it like an installment, I guarantee you’d have a bigger audience than you think. I say it be a cool addition to the thread. Naturally we all understand if names, dates, places are changed to protect the innocent

That's a great idea. I know that I'd look forward to reading it. I wish I had such a amazing memory. The only stories that I remember in great detail I would be better off not telling. That pesky statue of limitations thing.

He caught the ban hammer. If y’all like I reckon I could take over the cattle reports.

Joplin, OKC West and Stockyard yard city I reckon. I look at them every week wouldn’t take much to post them at all
