While it had areas with issues, in the 60's & 70's Dolton was one of the best fireworks shows in the south burbs. White flight went full bore around then, and the shift to rentals from home ownership had the expected effects. I grew up a couple villages south of there, and the same thing happened there a decade or so later. It's rather shocking as an adult to look back and realize just how racist the south burbs were back then. One non-white family would move in and the for sale signs would pop up like mushrooms during a wet summer.

 

This saga goes back at least a year. Vegas and other trips with entourage on taxpayer money. Police officers logging 100+ hours of overtime in a two week period. Leased a $150k Tahoe to shuttle her around. Her holding business permits to people who do not donate, or oppose her. It's a mess the Feds have been investigating for months.

 

Lightfoot is THE LAST person they should be looking toward for help. She’s as crooked as Henyard. In fact, they and every other metro politician are just peas in the same pod.

 

I don't necessarily disagree, but in this case I think she'll drill down to the last penny just to get back at the mayor and her cronies for disrespecting/not cooperating with her.

Having worked enough in Illinois it is a very pay2play state in my experience.

Chicago Parking Meters, the private company with a monopoly on the city’s paid street parking, filed a lawsuit in April asking the court to enforce an arbitration panel’s ruling that determined the city twice shorted the company under former Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Experts hired by the city and CPM agree the cost of one of the rulings, over an alleged scheme by the city to take advantage of parking space value fluctuations, could be more than $100 million, according to court records.

That's the second of her cronies indicted for bankruptcy fraud.
